We all know that the gold made from killing monsters and the small profit occasionally made from selling common drops is far short of the amount needed to outfit ourselves in good gear. What we may not know is the best way to acquire this money or gear. Hopefully if we share our experiences, everybody can benefit. So, how do you make money?

Do you farm elites for drops to sell at auction? How often? Which ones? How long do you stay, or how many drops do you gather? Do you think the FI buff is worth it? How many auctions do you run at one time? Do you try to sell a few items for a higher amount, or many things at cheap prices?

Do you recruit? How? Is it worthwhile under the new recruiting system?

Do you play the auction house or fsp market by buying low and selling high? How often / how many items at one time? Do you focus on just a few items, or many different ones? Is there a level range of items that seems to be most profitable? How often do you get stuck with something and have to take a loss?

Do you complete free fsp offers? Which ones? Do most of them pay off? Any hints for getting them to work?

Do you bounty hunt? Do you go after all of them or only certain ones? Do many people bounty you back? How bad does your xp suffer when you do get bountied?

Anything else?

I suppose now I should answer with what I know.

I usually only hunt elites on Mercenary days. I don't like the idea of spending somebody else's stamina to join my group just so I can make money (this is part of the reason I don't join very many groups also). I may have to get over this someday though. I usually gather 5-8 items, and I prefer to sell them as fast as possible, even if I don't make as much as I possible could . I have no patience for the auction house. Sometimes the FI buff seems great, sometimes it seems useless. I definitely won't pay 5 fsp for the FI potions.

Never tried recruiting, probably never will.

Never tried to play the market purely for profit. I have bought several things for very low (at the time) prices, expecting to use them for a while then sell for a profit. Somehow the market price always drops and I am lucky to break even. Usually I lose a little, sometimes I lose a lot. Mancrusha raped me bad, I have a feeling Samael will too.

Free offers have been my main source of income so far, but I am starting to run out. I attempt all of the ones that are actually free, I don't give out my credit card or phone number. Lately it seems like the first 3 out of 5 I do in a day pay off, the rest do not. It used to be much better, but I didn't really pay attention to exactly what paid off. I create a new online email account at least once a day from somewhere like yahoo or msn. The companies will only pay out one time to each address. Many of them also track your street address, and they can verify if it is a real address and not made up. I make up matching email and street addresses based on a real street in my neighborhood. For example: 123 Mystreet and 123mystreet@yahoo.com. I have found that I am able to complete a few of the foreign offers by using an address in that country. This trick may help some of you guys do american offers, assuming your IP is not blocked from them. Look up a random street on a map, or ask me for one.

I tried bounty hunting for about a week. I got 1 or 2 fsp, then lost about half a level and 20k gold when they bountied me.
